New release for IoT Bridge for Snowflake
Unlocking OT-to-IT data integration just got easier
We’re excited to announce a new release of IoT Bridge for Snowflake, a major update that makes it easier than ever for manufacturers to move real-time operational data into Snowflake’s powerful data cloud.
As organizations accelerate their digital transformation efforts, the ability to collect, contextualize, and analyze OT data alongside enterprise systems is critical. With this new release, Cirrus Link is lowering the barrier to scalable IIoT data integration — enabling smarter decisions, improved production outcomes, and faster access to AI/ML insights.
What’s new?
Native Snowflake App for Automated Setup
One of the biggest additions is a new Snowflake Native Application that automates the configuration of Snowflake environments. This app streamlines what was previously a manual, time-intensive setup process — creating schemas, roles, stored procedures, and functions in just a few clicks. Find more information here.
Note: The Snowflake app simplifies configuration but must be paired with the IoT Bridge VM available via Azure or AWS Marketplace.
Expanded data support & flexibility
The new release introduces broader support for different data types and use cases:
- Cross-plant template views
Instantly analyze and compare data across multiple facilities with new cross-edge-node templates — no complex joins required. - Nested UDT support
V2 builds views for all levels of nested UDTs, making it easy to access deep hierarchical data structures (e.g., assembly line → motor → component). - Flat tags & unmodeled data
Now supports individual tag values and process variables, even if they aren’t modeled — ideal for simpler or legacy data sources. - Raw MQTT ingestion
Ingest any MQTT payload — even non-Sparkplug data — directly into Snowflake with topic, payload, and timestamp fields.
Performance & integration enhancements
- Improved ingest performance
A new multithreaded ingest engine increases throughput and scalability for enterprise-scale deployments. - Stronger integration with Ignition
Enhanced schema design allows for better feedback loops — enabling insights generated in Snowflake to be easily pulled back into Ignition dashboards or edge logic.
Why it matters
As the manufacturing industry evolves toward Industry 4.0, the ability to unlock and operationalize OT data is a key differentiator. IoT Bridge for Snowflake V2 helps bridge the OT/IT divide by:
- Reducing deployment complexity and time
- Supporting a wider range of data types and formats
- Enabling advanced analytics and AI/ML on contextualized industrial data
- Empowering seamless collaboration between operations, IT, and data teams
